We’re alarmed:
Let's calm down
The unparalleled violence in Sydney
over the past week has terrified the
whole community. In this country, a
person should not be faced with fear
or intimidation at the prospect of taking
their kids for a walk, going for a swim,
acting as a volunteer lifesaver or driving
an ambulance.
The crowd on Sunday 11th December was
supposed to be the legitimate expression
of the right to protest based on longstanding
frustrations at locals from outside
their community. The behaviour of certain
people in that crowd quickly degenerated
into the lawless actions of a mob with
the racial overtones that has shamed
the wider Australian community. But
the violence was not the effect of alcohol........ |
